Finding your way around the Enduro

Lesson #2: Make sure you know where you are going when you ride the course. The trailbuilder was also the course setter. He knows these trails very well – he built them and he rides them regularly. He didn’t require directions to find the best path to the top of stage 5. When I told him about the difficulty of finding the easy and direct route up that hill, he went off and fixed it straight away. Come race day, it was impossible to get lost.
One way to know where you are going is with Pinkbike’s excellent Trailforks app on your smart phone. It works offline, so it can be used overseas without data fees and it also works in typical MTB locations where there is no service. I read you can link your planned route with a Garmin, but I haven’t tried this yet. That might be even more betterer.
